Her Private Life is a wonderful and well written Romantic comedy / drama (less drama) starring Park Min-young and Kim Jae-wook. It follows Park Min-young as Sung Deok-mi, a museum curator by day but a fangirl in her spare time. She’s a follower of the boy band White Ocean (specifically a fangirl of band member Shi-an). Kim Jae-wook plays Ryan Gold a highly regarded artist from New York but has since lost his touch for one reason or another. One thing leads to another, their paths cross and an unlikely relationship is formed. The less you know about the show the more you’ll enjoy it because it is a very different concept. However, it’s pretty much straight romance with no gimmicks. You’ll see no time bending aliens or fake android ladies in this show but that is just a testament to the quality of the show.

What stood out for me from other similar romantic shows is that it feels very mature. The characters are in their thirties, have established careers and all they need is each other. What I’m saying is there’s no unnecessary drama. The show remains positive throughout. If there is an issue someone is there for that character; There is love and understanding. Even rivals may not be that way for long. It just gives us more time to admire the gorgeous Park Min-young and the stellar acting performances from the cast. Her Private Life seems to hit all the right notes. The soundtrack fits perfectly, the writing is excellent and balanced. The worst part of the show was getting to the end because it was so thoroughly enjoyable and by the end you just hate to say goodbye. But maybe, watch it a second time?
